Las Varas-Puerto Vallarta Freeway/Autopista

Impact of New Freeway For Real Estate in Puerto Vallarta 2024

By Katya Homm Properties

Puerto Vallarta has grown a lot over the past several years, and there is no doubt that it will continue to grow. Furthermore, the government has built a new freeway designed to significantly reduce travel times between key locations. For instance, the travel time from Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta has been cut from 4.5 hours to 2.5 hours, and from Tepic to Puerto Vallarta from 3.3 hours to 1.6 hours. Benefitting over 6,000 vehicles that transit the stretch daily. Reducing the travel time is definitely making travel safer and more convenient for visitors/tourism. And this project is 80% finished, with a remaining part of the freeway envisioned to end at a very close proximity to the Puerto Vallarta Airport.

The freeway will feature 45 bridges, seven junctions, three tunnels, and three viaducts. The total investment in the project is 10.6 billion pesos (US $637.7 million), which will benefit 17 communities.

What does this mean for real estate?

The popularity of Puerto Vallarta and the surrounding area has led to a high demand for property over the years. The new freeway is expected to further drive this demand by making the region more accessible to tourists and potential property buyers. The ripple effect of these infrastructure developments is felt in the real estate market, with property values experiencing an upward trajectory, and a surge for more rental demand.

This new freeway from Las Varas to Puerto Vallarta is a transformative project! With significant reductions in travel time, improved infrastructure, and increased business, the freeway is set to play a crucial role in the development of Puerto Vallarta and its surrounding areas.
