Las Aralias & Las Gaviotas | Living amongst the parks

By Teresa Galván

As Puerto Vallarta grows even more each year with tons of new condos and homes for sale, we have less green areas in our small city. Urban parks emerge as the ideal option to increase the number of square meters dedicated to trees, flowers, and plants. These spaces not only beautify our cities but also give us invaluable benefits in terms of emotional and physical health. Living with nature in urban environments is not only a privilege but a vital necessity in our modern life.

Below is a list of parks that you MUST visit if you live in Puerto Vallarta and want to connect with nature!

Parks in Las Aralias & Las Gaviotas Area

1) Parque Ardillas (Squirrel Park)

Parque Ardillas is a delightful oasis in the Las Gaviotas area, where squirrels play among the large trees that shades the whole area. In the summer time, the park is blanketed with green clovers everywhere, certainly making it a sight to see!

2) Parque los Pájaros (Bird Park)

Parque los Pájaros offers a sanctuary for various bird species. With lots of colorful trees like “Tabachin”, painted tires that are re-used as decoration, and childrens playground, this park is one of local family’s favorites.

Parque los Sauces (Willow Park)

Named for its enormous trees that fill the park, Parque los Sauces is a tranquil park that invites visitors to unwind! At the center of the park, there is a gazebo where dancing classes take place, as well as lots of public fitness equipment, and basketball court. There you can also find a colorful children’s playground.

Parque Cora (Heart Park)

Lastly, Parque Cora, is a symbol of the community’s love for nature and a popular spot for couples and families. You may also see lots of large and colorful trees that offer shade, as well as murals throughout the park.

They are not just places of recreation but also hubs of biodiversity, contributing to the ecological health of the area.
